Making today efficient,
for a better tomorrow
Technology
Fuel Cells are devices that electrochemically convert hydrogen-rich fuels to produce electricity. They are seen as the cleanest and the most efficient way to produce electricity. However, currently these fuel cells can accept only pure fuels like hydrogen and simple fuels like methane and propane, which are not widely available. This limits their use in everyday life.
Ikanos’ unique fuel reforming technology solves all these problems. These reformers can accept a wide variety of readily available, ‘dirty’ fuels like gasoline, diesel, JP8 and economically and efficiently convert them to syn-gas (CO and H2) which a high temperature fuel cell can easily process to produce electricity. This technology has the potential to change the way people think of fuel cells in particular and electricity in general.

The integrated end product is a fuel-flexible generator, where fuels are fed to a reformer and converted to gases which are then converted to electricity by a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC)
